This is an unsung hero on the fundraising as it takes little effort and ultimately might save a few items from going into landfill.
All these providers will identify the school by the name and postcode – HP5 1YellowFreak
Any cables. Please remove all plugs, adaptors, filters and appliances (yes, we have had a toaster turned in at one point). A lovely firm called Wire-Less will take all our cables, feed them into a machine and recover the copper from them, but we get more money per kilo if it’s just cables, ready to be tipped into the hopper.
Phone Jayne on 07533 086766/07539 376260 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request sacks or collections.
Inkjet cartridges, toner cartridges, please no toner bottles and in all cases, only branded items – HP, Canon, Kodak, Dell, Kyocera etc. For some reason Epson aren’t welcome, but we have a deal with this firm that we don’t have to pre-sort, so if you’re already over-thinking things, please send everything and it will be sorted at this end. Nicely wrapped is good, cushioned is even better. Don’t forget to ask your employer if you can recycle their toners too – there’s a red and green bin in the foyer for you!
Email email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange to have a shipment collected. You need at least 15 qualifying items to make some money, so make sure it’s a nice big batch (don’t forget to speak to the office, they save carts for us too). You are welcome to box them up in multiple packages and leave them underneath the cover at the front of the school – it’s a company driver, not a courier and they’re in our area every four weeks so allow a little time. There is also an option to deliver to Milton Keynes if someone is passing.
Bag2School has been running for years now and has been making up to £700 per year; less since the council doorstep collections. For this reason we run the Monday Blues – named after the original blue bags; you are welcome to drop in donations of the following on a Monday morning during termtime (do have a quick read as the list has changed substantially since we started):
We accept the following ‘good quality’ items for RE-USE:
- Men’s, Ladies and Children’s clothing
- Paired shoes (tied together or elastic band around)
- Scarves and ties
- Soft toys
We do not accept:
- Duvets, bedding, blankets and household linen
- Pillows and cushions
- Carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats)
- Soiled, painted, ripped or wet clothing*
- School uniforms
- Corporate clothing and workwear
- Textile off cuts, yarns or threaded material
You can contact B2S via their website at http://www.bag2school.com, or call them on 01609 780222
